Shrey Thaker: Managing Editor

Major: Biochemistry
Class of 2022
Hometown: Smithtown, NY
Being a Scholar for Medicine, my undergraduate focus is not simply to build a resume but to truly pursue opportunities that will help me develop as a scientist and those I genuinely believe can leave a footprint on campus. In my free time, I love learning how to make 3D animations and spending time in the pages of timeless novels. In my downtime, playing video games or hanging out with friends is the fallback plan. The tether that clings me to science is the possibility of expansion and how anybody that has motivation can contribute to the ever-growing trove of information humanity will depend on for its seemingly bleak future. This concept pushes me to continue my own research in the depths of colon cancer prevention and racial health disparity in the Stony Brook Department of Medicine. My drive for science communication parallels my joy in conducting research for the past three years in the Stony Brook Health Sciences Center, and in pursuit of my goal to develop all aspects of a scientist, joining SBYIR was a no-brainer.
